On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, two lectures with a focus on transculturality will take place at the Karl-Jaspers-Center. Tansen Sen (Baruch College, University of New York) will talk about “The Zheng He Expeditions and Periodizing Asian and Indian Ocean History” at 4 pm. Afterwards, Lu Hanchao (Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta) will give a lecture on “Stinky Tofu: Material Comfort and Bourgeois Lifestyle in the Mao Era” from 6-8pm. Both lectures are organized by the Institute of Chinese Studies at Heidelberg University.
