Fourth Heidelberg-Kyoto Graduate Student Workshop

On December 2, a group of students from Kyoto University in Japan will join the students of M.A. Transcultural Studies in the workshop “Global Economy in Europe and Asia: Past and Present”, where students from both universities will give presentations on issues of globalisation and connections between Asian and German academia. Organised by Dr. Tokumaru from Kyoto University and Cluster Professor Harald Fuess, the event will be the fourth workshop on global economy between the two universities. It will be held at Karl Jaspers Centre, Room 112, on December 2. A Joint Degree-option for the Master Transcultural Studies between Heidelberg and Kyoto University is currently being developed. It is expected to start by the academic year 2017/18. Furthermore, Heidelberg University and Kyoto University are partners in the HeKKSaGOn Consortium. HeKKSaGon is a University Consortium, established in 2010, consisting of three German and three Japanese universities. It stands for Heidelberg – Kyoto – Karlsruhe – Sendai – Göttingen – Osaka – network. The consortium aims to step up collaboration in research and teaching, initiate joint research projects and graduate programmes and support the exchange of scholars, scientists, doctoral candidates and students. Dr. Natsuka Tokumaru is a senior lecturer at the Graduate School of Economics at Kyoto University. Prof. Harald Fuess is the chair of Cultural Economic History at the Cluster and Scientific Coordinator of HeKKSaGOn at Heidelberg University.
