2021 marks the 10th anniversary from the first edition of the Master’s in Transcultural Studies (MATS) at Heidelberg University. Since its inception in the winter semester 2010-2012, the programme has attracted a large number of students and young researchers from around the world. After ten years, the MATS is firmly established in academia as an interdisciplinary, trans-disciplinary, and research-oriented study programme. Since 2019, the MATS is part of the offer of the newly established Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS).
In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MATS, the MATS-Fachschaftsrat (student representative council) and the MATS Office launched a contest to choose a new mascot to represent the programme. The “MA(T)SCOT DESIGN COMPETITION” is open to all MATS students.
The rules for participation are the following:
- Send the image as a .png or .jpeg file to mats@stura.uni-heidelberg.de
- Please give the mascot a name and add a brief description in which you explain the reasons why you chose that design and name
- Name your file as “[MASCOT NAME]_[UNI-ID]”
- Please write “MATS 10th Anniversary Mascot – [Name, Uni-id]” as the email subject
The deadline to submit the mascot design proposals is July 10, 2021.
The winner will be determined by the results of an online poll following the closing of the contest. The selected mascot will accompany the name of the MATS and may be used as a visual for MATS gadgets, such as t-shirts and pins. For any questions or requests, please contact the MATS-Fachschaftsrat at mats@stura.uni-heidelberg.de.
Further events and initiatives for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the MATS programme will be announced soon!
