Dr. Eliane Ettmüller, postdoctoral researcher at the HCTS, recently published the article "A submissive rebellion – women in the Islamic State," with Reim (Revista de Estudios Internacionales Mediterráneos). The article looks into the motivation of women who support the Islamic State (IS) and into why they are attracted to it in the first place. At the same time, it clarifies how these female followers play an important role in the evolution of this extremist group, when compared to women of other Islamist movements. Reim is a digital publication and provides open access to its readers.
