HCTS and SNU Joint Workshop in New Delhi

After a round of introductions, the morning session of the workshop titled "Modernization and its Consequences in East Asia and South Asia" consisted of a joint presentation by Prof. Monica Juneja, Prof. Joachim Kurtz and Prof. Dhruv Raina on Global History of Concepts. Prof. Christiane Brosius gave a presentation on Visual and Media Anthropology and Prof. Diamantis Panagiotopoulos introduced his research on Classical Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The afternoon session was dedicated to the SNU. It consisted of short presentations on research from the Department of Sociology by Prof. Pradeep Jeganathan, Subhashim Goswami, PhD and Tuhina Ganguly, PhD, the English Department by Prof. Sambudha Sen and Vinayak Dasgupta, PhD and the Department of International Relations and Governance Studies by Prof. Rajeswari Raina and Shekhar Singh, PhD. More presentations came from Prof. Atul Bhalla and Prof. Vasudha Thozhur from the Department of Arts and Performing Arts as also from Prof. Jaya Menon, Meera Visvanathan, PhD and Shrimoy Roy Chaudhury, PhD from the Department of History. The workshop was concluded by two presentations on funding opportunities, prospects and possibilities given by Matthias Kiesselbach (DFG) and Radu Carciumaru (SAI/HCSA). The general discussion was chaired by Prof. Monica Juneja and Prof. Christiane Brosius. It was jointly organized by the the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) and Shiv Nadar University (SNU) and coordinated by by the Branch Office of Heidelberg University in India, the Heidelberg Centre South Asia (HCSA).
